Rorke's Drift Buildings and Donga's

I have made some terrain which will represent one of the Donga's at Isandlwana which I will be submitting in a later post.

The buildings are from Redoubt Enterprise with some modifications by myself. I have also given all the doors hinges so that they can be opened and closed.

  1. Excellent eye candy - how did you do the hinges? - a great little bit of extra detail.

    1. Thanks Dave. The hindges were very simple, just a small piece of card glued where each of the hinges would be on the door and wall and then painted. Rather than having the door glued in place it enables it to be opened and closed for those skirmish games.

  3. Beautifully done Sir! That bark is truly versatile stuff ;) Love the Rorke's Drift set too; I'd forgotten about the Redoubt version with all the recent attention been on the new Warlord Games one. You certainly done it proud.

  5. Thanks Gents.

Michael, typical of me, I purchased the Redoubt version about a month before Warlord brought theirs out. Having said that I am quite pleased with how the buildings turned out. There was quite a bit of work on the doorways though, as I had to file away quite a bit to get the doors to fit. It also needed a wooden floor and vertical and cross beams on the verander of both buildings, along with a floor and ladder for the loft along with an outside staircase. Redoubt Miniatures figures are bigger than the Empress Miniatures figures, so I found that the windows were just a little to high for the figures to shoot out of. To compensate for this I made little platforms inside under the windows for the figures to stand on, which were also made to look like bunkbeds and this has worked well. The buildings are also very heavy.
On the plus side, you get a nice pair of metal wagons for the defence along with a load of metal bunkbeds and patients. There is also the outbuildings, walling, sandbags and redoubt.
